Safety precautions must be taken, such as wearing glasses and being covered with a cloth or paper towel, and especially protecting gums with a darn and moving the lips well out of the way of the chemical.

Shining a laser on the teeth while they are bleaching is a commonly used tactic of dentists to produce whiter teeth. This combination produces whiter teeth. This light has the effect on the chemical which causes it to be more effective and work faster. This is another of the reasons many people choose to have their teeth whitened professionally.

Anyone who is considering dentist strength peroxide bleaching gel should talk with their dentist ahead of time because of the high concentration of peroxide. It is important since the patient could experience some tooth sensitivity. This chemical often causes sensitivity and using it at such concentrations might not be the best for those who already have sensitive teeth.

For those who are in not in a hurry whiten their teeth or those who simply want a more gradual approach, and even those who like to do it themselves, an at home whitening kit can be effective. It is also the least expensive option.
