Having Your Teeth Whitened Professional

In our days it is more important for people to look their best than it ever was before. With fewer people doing manual labor and more and more people working in offices, plus the advances in technology and methods for hygiene and personal beautification, most everyone can look good. One technique that has become extremely popular in recent years is tooth whitening.

There are a few methods of for brightening up your smile, but the oldest and still the most effective is having teeth whitened professional. Originally people in the public eye would have their teeth whitened professionally at their dentist’s office. However, this has become far less expensive and now most people can afford the treatment.

The process involved in whitening your teeth at the dentist’s office is very simple. It often only takes one visit of an hour or an hour and a half. The treatment is often performed by a dental hygienist.

After the dentist has determined your current tooth color, the first thing that the professional will do is to move back your lips and cover your gums very exactly. This is done with a darn, often of gel. This is to protect the gums and other tissue from the chemicals used in the bleaching.

Next a whitening gel or paste is carefully applied to your teeth. The compound most often used in this process is carbamide peroxide, which whitens the teeth from the enamel and into the dentin, to ensure a complete whitening.

In some cases, a laser or light treatment will be added. If this is the case, a laser light or other type of light will be used on the teeth in order to help the teeth react better and more quickly to the whitening agent. This is often done when the whitening is to be completed in one visit. It is often called laser teeth whitening, although sometimes a laser is not used at all, and the main whitening agent is still the chemical.

After the treatment the dentist will take a look at the new color of your teeth and show you how many shades your teeth have lightened. Also, the dentist will often give a at home kit for you to do touch ups.

Having teeth whitened is a wonderful choice for those looking for a quick and simple option. Also, having a professional take care of it ensures that it will be done correctly and safely.

There are a few drawbacks about this method, however. Compared to at home, over the counter treatments, it is more expensive. Also, it is much more likely that people will notice the sudden color change than if you whitened them gradually with a kit.

Having teeth whitened professional is the oldest and probably still the best method for improving your smile. It is easy, relatively inexpensive, and can do much to help you make a good first impression wherever you go.
